The government has postponed making a decision over a possible merger of the Housing Corporation with regeneration agency English Partnerships.
Communities and Local Government Secretary Ruth Kelly, who inherited the review of housing and regeneration programmes when she was appointed in May, indicated this week that she will not make an early decision.
Instead, the review is being extended to the Department for Communities and Local Government to ensure that the government makes maximum use of its 'skills, assets and investment', she said on July 24.
The review will also study the success of the corporation in cutting red tape.
