The new agency charged with house building and regeneration will attempt a 'single conversation' with its partners, a member of its set-up team has said.
Speaking at the 4Ps annual conference on April 24, Ros Dunn said the vision for the Homes and Communities Agency was to create opportunity and places where people wanted to live.
'You can't do that on your own as a national agency. That's why we are going to have to work in partnership,' she said.
Dunn told delegates that the HCA would create a bridge between 'national targets and local ambitions', bringing partners from local, regional and national level together in a 'single conversation'.
The agency would continue the type of projects carried out by English Partnerships and the Housing Corporation, but would have to be 'more than the sum of its constituent parts', she said.
The HCA will also take on some Department for Communities and Local Government functions.
The agency, which will need to build 240,000 homes a year to meet government targets, is due to be launched in April 2009.
