Tony Redmond, the chair and chief executive of the Commission for Local Administration in England, has been re-elected as CIPFA honorary treasurer for 2010/11.

Redmond received 1,254 votes in the poll. He defeated Ian Perkin, the treasurer of Surrey Police Authority, who garnered 1,159 votes. Just under 18% of the membership voted.

In his election statement, Redmond said that ‘strong leadership, sound financial stewardship and effective risk management’ would be key to the honorary treasurer’s role.

‘It is important that this role is seen as pivotal to the development of the institute’s strategy and business planning, which must be in the best interests of its members and the wider public sector community it serves,’ he added.
