This webinar will focus on describing the fundamentals of business partnering, why it has come to the fore in the public sector, the potential benefits of applying the model and pitfalls to avoid. We will also look at the skills and competencies of a business partner and ways to increase effectiveness in the role.

Jane Setten: Trainer: Jane is a respected learning and development consultant specialising in organisational, management and personal development and business skills training. Her background includes working in HR for the electricity supply industry, a period as a commercial training manager for an employers’ membership organisation and a role as a management development adviser for a big ‘four’ accountancy firm. In her capacity as an independent consultant, Jane has extensive experience delivering development solutions for a range of organisations in the private and public sectors. Recent clients have included Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Sussex University and Leeds City Council. Jane is currently working with CIPFA on several projects, the focus of which is to help finance professionals working in the public sector make the transition to business partner. Jane is CIPD-qualified, has a masters degree in organisational behaviour and combines her consultancy work in learning and development with research for a PhD in organisational psychology.
