The Welsh Assembly Government has set out how it will spend £300m to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets of 3% a year by 2011.
The Climate change strategy, programme of action consultation said the entire public sector – including police forces – would be included in calculating the sector’s CO2 emissions, with proposals including the creation of more sustainable travel towns.
The initiative, which recently started in Cardiff, will involve at least £25m being invested in park-and- ride sites and walking and cycling routes.
Environment, Sustainability and Housing Minister Jane Davidson said climate change was not ‘some academic concept but a real threat’.
