Housing associations in Scotland have called for investment of £600m — compared with £350m for 2007/08 — to provide 10,000 new rented homes per year.

In a submission to the Scottish Executive's Comprehensive Spending Review 2008/11, the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations says that if the Executive agrees to invest the £600m, an extra £260m could be garnered from private funding, which would make public investment 'good value for money'.
