A former deputy to London Mayor Boris Johnson has admitted expenses fraud in a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Ian Clement pleaded guilty on October 6 to three unauthorised claims on his corporate credit card for restaurant meals totalling £156. Two further counts were discharged. He was given a 12-week suspended jail sentence.
Outside court, former Bexley council leader Clement said: ‘I have failed to live up to the high standards of office that were expected of me.’ He resigned as a deputy mayor in June.
