Social landlords in the north of England are being challenged to come up with innovative ways to kick-start local housing markets.
A £50m competition that will run until next summer was launched by Jon Rouse, chief executive of the Housing Corporation, at the Northern Development Summit in York on November 23.
Rouse said the competition would emphasise innovative design and construction while also recognising the role landlords play in community development generally.
'Without a decent housing supply that offers choice and meets aspiration, the North will not achieve its economic goals,' said Rouse.
