The train drivers' union Aslef is bucking its Labour Party affiliation by backing Ken Livingstone for re-election to his post as mayor of London.
At its Scarborough conference this week, the union agreed to provide cash and support for the mayor's campaign, rather than that of official Labour candidate Nicky Gavron.
General secretary Mick Rix insisted the union was not severing ties with Labour: 'The Labour Party is the political wing of the trade union movement.'
