Local authorities in England will need to raise council tax by 10% next year, just to enable adult social care services to stand still, according to a charity.
The prime minister’s £3.5m package for councils, expected to be announced in this week’s Spending Round, would be a “very welcome contribution” if it is not money that has already been announced.
England has been “left behind” as other countries get on with modernising their social care systems for an increasingly ageing population, campaigners said today.
