CIPFA has been appointed as the exclusive provider of finance management tuition for the NHS Graduate Scheme, it has been announced today.

The contract with the NHS Leadership Academy will see CIPFA provide classroom, face-to-face and online learning for members of the scheme from September. Under the deal, which will initially run for two years, graduates on the scheme are expected to become fully qualified CIPFA accountants as part of their training.

CIPFA chief executive Rob Whiteman said the institute was delighted to be supporting the NHS in equipping its future finance leaders.

‘CIPFA's reputation as the gold standard accountancy qualification for financial management and audit in public services is built on working tirelessly to support our students and members through their successful studies and careers,’ he said.

‘As the NHS faces demographic and budget pressures over the next decade, it is vital that finance staff have the first-class skills and knowledge they need.’
