Work on the social return on investment has secured this year’s CIPFA Sir Harry Page Merit Award.
The winner was Rob Lilley, head of business development at Trafford Community Leisure Trust.
His report was commissioned by the trust to help measure the economic and social benefits generated for local people through its work.
CIPFA president Mike Owen said: ‘I hope the award will encourage all who use public funds to redouble their efforts to account clearly to the taxpayer about how they create real value.
‘It is important they take inspiration from the likes of Mr Lilley and his colleagues in Trafford on how they can communicate this important information to communities and the taxpayer.’
The award is given annually for outstanding technical innovation. It was first presented in 1969 having been established by Sir Harry Page, who served as CIPFA president the previous year.
