Caroline Flint’s shadow local government team was named today. It includes former Labour treasurer Jack Dromey and Alison Seabeck, who advised Nick Raynsford when he was local government minister.

Seabeck worked with Raynsford when he was conducting his review of council finance. She is a member of the Fawcett Society equality group and is now his partner.

Dromey was previously deputy general secretary of the Transport and General Workers Union. He is married to Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman.

Also on the communities and local government team are Barbara Keeley, a former Trafford councillor, and Chris Williamson, a former social worker and welfare rights officer.

Individual portfolios have yet to be announced.

Former New Local Government Network director Chris Leslie, who re-entered Parliament this year as MP for Nottingham East, joins the shadow Treasury team. David Hanson and Kerry McCarthy make up the rest of the team, which is led by shadow chancellor Alan Johnson and shadow chief secretary to the Treasury Angela Eagle.

Diane Abbott, the Labour leadership contender who failed to be elected to the shadow Cabinet, was given the role of shadow public health minister.
