Former government communication chief Alastair Campbell shared his insights on leadership in difficult times with the CIPFA conference.
The Labour government had endured four crises, he said: the Iraq war, the war in Afghanistan, the outbreak of foot and mouth disease and the fuel protests.
His ten leadership tips included calls to be bold and adaptable and a plea to stay calm in a crisis.
He also praised the conference daily edition of Public Finance, saying it was an ‘excellent publication’ and ‘one of my favourite reads’.
