It is still uncertain to what extent the public will benefit from the sale of the Millennium Dome, according to a new report from MPs.

The Public Accounts Committee was considering whether the best achievable deal had been made.

The 'complex' contract for the sale and redevelopment of the Greenwich site was negotiated in 2004 with Meridian Delta and the Anschutz Entertainment Group.

The MPs said the transparency of the deal was hampered by the way it was handled by English Partnerships and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

PAC chair Edward Leigh said: 'Only the incurably optimistic will be confident that value for money has been achieved.'
