Birmingham chief quits for Home Office role

Lin Homer, chief executive of Birmingham City Council, will quit her post to take on the tough task of leading the Home Office's Immigration and Nationality Directorate later this year.

Lin Homer, chief executive of Birmingham City Council, will quit her post to take on the tough task of leading the Home Office's Immigration and Nationality Directorate later this year.

Homer has confirmed she will become director general at the IND in August.

She will leave Birmingham having served only three years of a five-year contract.

In a brief statement on June 6, she described her time at the council as 'exciting and interesting' and added: 'I am looking forward to the challenges of a very different job in central government.'

Lin Homer will be speaking at the CIPFA conference on Thursday, 16 June
