The Learning and Skills Council picked up the top prize last week in the public sector category of the Building Public Trust Awards.

Organised by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the awards recognise transparency, clarity and openness in corporate reporting. They previously only covered private limited companies, but this year a public sector category was introduced.

The LSC was commended by the judges for the narrative approach of its reporting.

John Bourn, the auditor general and one of the awards judges, said the entries were of a high standard, but there was 'still progress to be made in improving the quality of corporate reporting'.
