Top BBC health and social care reporter Niall Dickson is to be the new chief executive of the King's Fund, the health charity announced this week.

Dickson, who will take over the top post from Rabbi Julia Neuberger in January, is currently BBC News' social affairs editor and is well-known both as a commentator and conference speaker.

King's Fund chair Sir Graham Hart said: 'He is very widely respected for his understanding of health and social care issues, his integrity and his ability to communicate. Julia Neuberger will be a hard act to follow, but Niall will be a worthy successor.'

Dickson said: 'Leading the King's Fund has to be one of the best jobs in health.'
