The investment in 21 projects by the Learning and Skills Council – timed to coincide with adult learners' week, which runs until May 17 – consists of £10m for capital projects and £6m for minor work.
LSC chief executive John Harwood said the money was targeted at deprived areas. 'We want to give people who do not normally participate in education the chance to build better futures,' he said.
