Local authorities in England dealt with more than 1.26 million fly-tipping incidents during 2024-25, although the full scale of the problem is likely to be considerably higher due to incidents on private land, large-scale illegal dumping investigated by the Environment Agency, and unreported cases not being captured in national statistics.
