Monday job moves

East London is calling for promotion hunters with two significant appointments.

Tower Hamlets is looking for a head of strategic and corporate finance, while Hackney is looking for a head of finance to lead housing and regeneration.

Both roles have big demands as the capital’s inner boroughs are facing significant pressures.

At Tower Hamlets, the role is within the corporate services directorate, leading on strategic resource planning across key functions, including HR, legal, IT, finance, strategy and performance, democratic services and the mayor’s office.

The authority says it is “a central corporate role, developing an outcome focused medium-term financial strategy for both revenue and capital across the council”.

“You’ll be a key member of the financial leadership/management team, deputising for the director as necessary.”

At Hackney, the housing and regeneration appointment comes at a crucial time with demand for social housing at an all-time high.

The successful applicant will “lead a team providing strategic financial leadership for the directorate, ensuring the medium-term financial strategy is delivered alongside service priorities including some large regeneration projects”.

They will also need to “foster professional working relationships with the strategic directors of housing services and inclusive economy, corporate policy and new homes to provide financial support and advice to aid decision making”.
