Jobless jump: don't blame the eurozone

The sovereign debt crisis in Europe is not a major factor in the huge rise in unemployment announced this week. But it may start to have an effect in the months ahead

Employment minister Chris Grayling firmly laid the blame on the eurozone crisis for this week’s announcement of a rapid rise in unemployment. This argument is so obviously bogus, it is disappointing for a minister to be using this as a line of defence.
