You can’t bank on post offices

It was interesting to read that the government has lent its support to the idea of a Post Office ‘people’s bank’ (News, March 20—26). I wonder why anyone would want to use the bank. The government has been instrumental in closing down so many sub-post offices that the queues in those remaining are longer than ever.

My local main post office has about ten counter positions but only three are in use at one time. This is the same number as used to be in operation in the sub-post office that has closed. Within a couple of hundred yards of my local post office, there are at least eight banks, ready and willing to look after my money, where the queues are much shorter, if they exist at all.
