The Welsh Assembly Government has announced the first cost-saving projects to be supported by the £60m Invest-to-Save fund.
Funded projects so far include: replacing a paper-based NHS expenses system with a web-based one; preparing detailed plans to merge Powys County Council with Powys Local Health Board; and implementing xchangewales, an online and electronic cross-public sector procurement system.
Finance and Public Services Minister Andrew Davies said: ‘Tighter budgets need to be framed around efficiencies – that means focusing on improving services and at the same time reducing costs and obtaining the greatest value possible for the Welsh pound.’
The Assembly also announced that more loan
funding would be made available for energy efficiency measures.
