A radical rethink of the role and purpose of public services is needed in the face of a ‘perfect storm’ of new demands and complexities, the 2020 Public Services Trust has said.
A report entitled Scoping the challenges – produced by futures consultancy Trajectory for the think-tank – said that current trends pose major challenges for Britain’s public services.
Trust director Ben Lucas said: ‘More radical choices will need to be made about public services and how risk and responsibility should be shared.
‘Public services face a perfect storm of rising demand from an ageing, more diverse and more assertive citizenry [and] a drastic squeeze on spending.’
