Latham elected as next CIPFA vice-president

CIPFA has announced the results of its officer elections for 2008/09.

Roger Latham, the chief executive of Nottinghamshire County Council, has been elected to serve as the next vice-president. He received 2,294 votes, ahead of Gerald Vinten, who gained 851.

Mike Barnes, who is head of audit policy at the Audit Commission, has been chosen again to serve as the institute's treasurer. He secured 1,842 votes, against the 1,323 cast for Ian Perkin.

Caroline Mawhood, assistant auditor general at the National Audit Office, will be CIPFA's president in 2008/09. The current president, John Butler, will serve as past president.

The ballot was overseen by Electoral Reform Services and the turnout was 23.5%, fractionally down on last year's 23.9%. Of the 13,566 ballot papers sent out, 3,183 valid papers were returned. The ballot results were released on January 15.
