Basware / Public Finance: How to pay suppliers promptly and support local growth

Date: Wed, 04/12/2017 - 13:00 to 13:30
Upcoming changes to local government funding means a thriving business sector is more important to the public sector than ever. Healthy businesses are needed in local areas not only to generate the business rate incomes councils will be increasingly reliant on but also to boost prosperity, improve living standards and reduce social exclusion. However, we know that delayed payment remains a problem for some public sector suppliers – despite the government target for payment within 30 days. Recent polling of building engineering specialists found that more than half were waiting longer than 30 days for invoices to be settled. How can councils and other public sector organisations keep on top of this issue and ensure cash is released back to businesses and out into their local economies promptly? This webinar will consider the issue of prompt payment from both a business and government perspective and offer practical insight into what can be done to refine and speed up the payment process. In particular it will examine the benefits and potential of e-invoicing, which can improve visibility for both public sector buyers and their suppliers and assure the quality of the invoice content.
