Funds move to schools

The Local Government Association gave the move a 'cautious' welcome, but said it was disappointed building repairs were included and that additional money available to grant maintained schools would continue.

National Union of Teachers leader Doug McAvoy said schools 'needed new money, not recycled money', while the Association of Teachers and Lecturers described the announcement as 'all hype'. But the National Association of Head Teachers was more positive, welcoming the move for those involved 'at the sharp end'.
