Your story, ‘Police forces could face huge staffing cuts, watchdog warns’ (March 19–25), refers to value-for-money assessments showing Hertfordshire Police spending ‘proportionally more than three times what Durham spends on human resources staff’.
We are not a high spender on HR. We have shown our correct figures to the police inspectorate, which are below the national average for HR staffing levels.
Despite this discrepancy, we fully support the use of VFM profiles.
